Does everyone eat the same food?
There are six choices per meal for each 3 day delivery period as well as three different caloric portions to chose from: 1,150, 1350 or 1,550 calories per day. For those on the 1350 or 1550 calorie plans, we provide a snack each day as well. Some people choose different meals for each day while other people have favourite meals and order them more than once. Our menu works on a six week cycle so there is lots of variety.

What if I don't like certain foods?
You have 6 options per meal for each 3 day period so there is lots of choice.

How long can I stay on Healthy Heart Food Delivery?Back To Top
You can be a Healthy Heart Food Delivery client for as long as you wish! We believe we provide a healthier eating plan than you could prepare for yourself on a regular basis. Let us do the work for you. We'll scramble your eggs, barbecue your chicken and bake your muffins. Meals include fresh fruits and salads.

Does it matter when I eat my daily food?
Eat when your body tells you to eat, when you feel hungry. If you prefer to eat smaller portions more frequently then feel free to split your meal in two.

How long will my Healthy Heart Food Delivery meals remain fresh?
Your Healthy Heart Meals are freshly prepared and then packaged using special technology (atmospheric replacement system) which keeps your meals fresh for an extended period of time. Although your meals will stay fresh for over 5 days we suggest that you eat all of your meals before your next delivery. Many of your meals can be frozen if you need to keep them for an extended period of time

May I eat Monday's breakfast on Tuesday or Wednesday's lunch on Tuesday?Back To Top
Yes. Feel free to "trade" meals from day to day. However, meals containing fresh fruit or uncooked vegetables should be eaten first.

Are the Healthy Heart Food Delivery meals very spicy?
Not too spicy. We know clients' tastes vary. We have designed the taste to be moderate. Add seasonings (no salt) if you desire.

How can I stay on Healthy Heart Food Delivery when I travel frequently?
Place your meals in a cooler with ice packs. If your meal needs heating, many facilities have microwave ovens for your use. If that’s inconvenient you can pause your service until you return. We allow you to stop and start the program as often as you like at no extra charge.

What should I drink with this diet?Back To Top
For those who don’t want to ingest any additional calories then we suggest six or more glasses of water each day. Low fat milk (Skim or 1%) is a great alternative but keep in mind an 8 oz glass contains 90-110 calories.

Can I have a cocktail on a special occasion?
Yes, but limit the amount to one glass of red or white wine, 1 oz. of hard liquor or one light beer per day. They all contain calories.

Should I take supplements?
Healthy Heart meals are produced within the parameters of the Canada Food Guide so the meals are nutritious. We also suggest eating fruit for snacks. However, it’s best to consult your physician for specific guidance.

What if I'm invited out for dinner?Back To Top
Go, and don't feel guilty! Just choose what to eat carefully. You're safe with a salad served with dressing on the side, a baked potato, broiled fish or chicken, one serving of bread/margarine and fresh fruit for desert. Drink sparkling mineral water with a twist. Save your Healthy Heart meal for another day; meals can be frozen, if necessary. If you're dining at a friend's house, inform your host that you are on Healthy Heart Food Delivery and that you'll be bringing your own meal.

How much weight will I lose?
Unless you have a very unusual medical problem, weight loss and weight gain is a matter of caloric intake vs. caloric usage. If you take in more calories than you use, you gain weight. If you take in fewer calories than you use, you lose weight. If you're on the Healthy Heart Food Delivery 1,150 calorie plan and you don't lose weight, you're either supplementing the meals with too many calories or sleeping all day. We play no games. Get going!! You'll be glad you did. Exercise is recommended.

I ordered the 1150 calorie plan although my doctor said that I should have 1500 calories per day. What should I add?
A glass of low-fat milk is always an excellent choice. Other healthy choices may include the following: (numbers are approximate, see label when purchasing)
  • 70-100 calories: One serving of fresh fruit
  • 40-60 calories: One cup air popped popcorn
  • 100-200 calories: One cup yogurt
  • 100-150 calories: One half cup frozen yogurt
  • 80-120 calories: One medium baked or boiled potato
  • 40-100 calories: One cup green vegetable
  • 55-90 calories: One slice whole grain bread
  • low fat milk: 90-110 calories

How often should I weigh myself?Back To Top
Weigh your self once per week, preferably on the same day of the week. We recommend being weighed on the same scale every time. Weighing more frequently than once a week will not give an accurate picture of weight loss, and this may be discouraging.

Should I choose 1150, 1350 or 1550 calories per day?
It depends on your caloric needs. Our 1150 plan provides three nutritious meals and still gives you the flexibility to add your own snack(s) if necessary. If you’re busy, our 1350 or 1550 calorie plans include a snack and thus might be a better choice. We suggest that you consult your physician to help you determine what is best for you.

If I lose weight on Healthy Heart Food Delivery, will I keep it off?
The honest fact remains - if you eat or drink more calories than you use, you'll gain weight. At Healthy Heart Food Delivery we focus on providing PORTION CONTROLLED, nutritious meals. Studies show that individuals who focus on portion control as opposed to “Fad” diets have the best long term success rates. By using our service you get a great idea of how much food to eat which will help you whether you’re out for dinner or preparing meals on your own.

I don't want to lose weight. Can I still be on Healthy Heart Food Delivery?
Yes. However, if you ingest fewer calories than you expend (work, exercise, etc.), then you will lose weight. We offer 1350 & 1550 calorie plans for those who need more calories or you can always supplement your meals with healthy snacks.
